Tips for Making Own Tablet Screen Protector

852views

No matter what brand your tab is, tablet screen repair can be costly and quite a hassle, although you can always use your favorite search engine and type, “tablet repair screen near me” or “tablet screen repair near me.” Maintenance and care can help reduce this unwanted expense, and at one point, most e-device owners recommend using screen protectors (which is just another hefty amount if you’d ask some tablet users).

In this article, we came up with some tips and hacks on how to make your own tablet screen protector, or at least come up with a DIY version for your device.

1 Template

Before anything else, you need a model for your tablet screen. If your tablet or phone originally came with a screen protective sheet or film, use it as your template. You may find people suggesting to photocopy/scan your tablet while it is turned on, which may work if you have a machine at home and are adept enough to fix the lighting to make the screen visible on the copy. If both options don’t apply, measure the height and width of your tablet screen.

2 Trace And Cut

You have two choices for your DIY screen protector. One is to buy cheap OEM packs for iPad, for smaller tablets or gadgets. Another way, our way or an even cheaper way, is to use the thinnest clear vinyl covering you can find from fabric stores/departments on your favorite supermarket. This vinyl doesn’t have any adhesive, which does not leave any residue on your device afterward, and adheres to your screen using statics. At this point, trace the template into your vinyl and cut it using a craft cutter or blade.

3 Clean the Surfaces

Use a cotton swab dabbed in some isopropyl alcohol to clean the tablet screen. Wipe it dry with a lint-free cloth. Make sure you clean your vinyl and remove any dirt particles if any. Some people suggest spraying a thin mist of soap and water solution (1 drop of liquid soap in half cup of water).

4 Put It in Place

Now, put your vinyl or screen protector in place, making sure the top corners are aligned. You may now lightly spray the front part of the vinyl covering with the solution. Then use a squeegee, a plastic credit/debit card would work just as fine, to eliminate any bubbles while applying the screen protector on your screen. If you sprayed some solution on your vinyl, push the liquid to the sides and wipe it clean with the cloth to avoid water damage.

Some DIYers suggest that not using any water and soap solution on your vinyl would do the job, too. The static property of the vinyl covering would make it stick to your tablet screen without difficulty. The trick is just to avoid having any bubbles while placing the film in. This project would just really need a few affordable materials and tons of patience and careful moves.
